eagle landing in oakleaf plantation experiencing
phenomenal demand

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. - The surrounding natural wonder blends perfectly with the unequaled standard of living offered at Eagle Landing, the new 1,320-acre golf course community at Oakleaf Plantation in northern Clay County. Presented by East West Partners, developers of the acclaimed Eagle Harbor at Fleming Island, the community offers maximum privacy within one of the area’s hottest and fastest-growing developments.

With unmatched amenities, a Village Green for community gatherings and access to nearby Jennings State Forest, Eagle Landing offers residents ample opportunities to enjoy the area’s untouched conservation areas, partake in a host of recreational activities or simply enjoy the company of family and neighbors.

During their recent home search, Dale and Jeanny Boudreau were looking for a generous homesite in a newly constructed, well-designed and amenitized neighborhood that was close to work. A Subway franchise owner with stores in Gainesville and Jacksonville, Dale Boudreau was tired of his daily commute. After selling the Gainesville stores, the couple moved to Jacksonville to focus on building their business locally.

“The size of the lots in Glen Eagles was impressive,” said Boudreau. “Not only do we have 130 feet of frontage, but with the golf course right behind us, it’s like we have one big backyard.”

The Boudreaus selected a home by Sid Higginbotham located on the golf course. From their back porch, they enjoy panoramic views of the 12th hole of Eagle Landing’s newly opened course.

“I used to own a security company.  Having installed many home systems, I learned quite a bit about residential construction,” said Boudreau. “Sid builds a quality house, with details and accents that truly stand out.”

Higginbotham is one of several preferred homebuilders for Eagle Landing. Homebuyers can choose from Standard Pacific Company, D.O. Allen Homes, CornerStone Homes, Panitz Signature Homes, Providence Homes by Bill Cellar, Rosewood Homes, StyleCraft Homes, Poimboeuf Homes, J.A. Long, Inc. and Tuscany Homes.

To allow prospective homebuyers to see firsthand the choice and quality of homes available to them, the model park at the community’s entrance features nine, professionally-decorated and fully furnished model homes. The models are open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 5 p.m. or weekdays by appointment.

“Our model park offers a wonderful opportunity for visitors to preview just how special Eagle Landing is,” said Beverly Dubis, senior vice president of sales for East West Partners. “With gorgeous models from some of the area’s most notable builders, we make it easy for prospective homeowners to imagine living in this incredible community.”

Eagle Landing homes are available from the mid $300,000 to more than $1 million within five neighborhoods – Glen Eagles, Royal Pines, Shadow Creek, Oakmont and Harbour Town. With its rich amenities and idyllic location, discriminating homebuyers are quickly discovering Eagle Landing. In only one year, 190 homes and 48 homesites sold for a total of $95 million (as of 12/31/05). To keep up with the demand, Eagle Landing expanded its sales team in January, with the addition of Kelly Touhey and Andy Fletcher.

Pat and Kathy Doolittle are among those homebuyers enjoying the community’s lifestyle. Recently retired from the Duval County Sheriff’s Office, the Doolittles began looking for their retirement home earlier this year after selling their previous Bent Creek home in only five days. Their search – a short one – led them to Eagle Landing.

“We had three reasons for choosing Eagle Landing,” explained Doolittle. “We wanted to get in on the ground floor in a new neighborhood that has great amenities.  Most importantly, it had to have a golf course.”

A self-described avid golfer who plays two or three times a week, Doolittle selected a D.O. Allen home on the course’s first hole in the Shadow Creek neighborhood.

“Golfers of all talents can enjoy Eagle Landing’s course,” said Doolittle. “It is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye and that makes a big difference when playing. They did a great job designing the course into the area.”

Renowned architect Clyde Johnston of Hilton Head, created the par-72 course, which incorporates classic designs from around the world by some of golf’s original architects. The open links style course winds through natural wetlands and conservation areas bordering the 24,000-acre Jennings State Forest. With six sets of tees, the course will play 2,789 yards from the junior tees and a challenging 7,037 yards from the back tees. Golf fees range from $50 to $60 with cart, based upon the day of the week.

Tim Spangler, director of golf, expects to open the semi-private course for public play next month. Assistant golf professional Thomas Buzzoto, along with pro shop assistants Andrea Sarratt and Paige Pittman, are available onsite to ensure a positive golfing experience.  Later this month, Eagle Landing will celebrate the groundbreaking of its permanent clubhouse, which is scheduled for completion in spring 2007.

The golf course was just one of the many amenities that attracted the Doolittles to Eagle Landing. With three active grandkids, ages three through seven, the couple wanted safe and entertaining activities for their young charges.  “A full-time recreational staff and plenty of outlets for energy will keep our grandkids happy – and give grandma a break,” said Doolittle.

By the end of July, the community’s other amenities will be available, including a fitness center with state-of-the art equipment, an athletic club with a full-size gymnasium and indoor jogging track, a residents’ club and a general store with a coffee shop, snack bar and ice cream parlor. In typical East West fashion, Eagle Landing will also be home to a spectacular swim park that incorporates four pools including a heated adult pool, a water playground, water slide and a cabana bar.

Other amenities will include a boardwalk, parks, playgrounds, hiking trails connecting with the forest preserve, biking trails, and an outdoor amphitheater with stage and screen for outdoor communitywide concerts and movies. Upon completion, Eagle Landing will also have 12 Har-Tru tennis courts.

Also underway is a kid’s club, complete with a tree house, miniature golf, wishing well, birthday pavilion, and tiny tots room.

In the community’s Village Green, residents can visit the Lake House to rent canoes, fishing rods and other sports and recreational gear. Eagle Landing will offer its residents year-round organized programs, clinics, camps and activities for kids, teens, singles, seniors and families led by the recreation staff.

The family-friendly atmosphere is what drew Ryan and Kate Cech to Eagle Landing. The naval aviator and his wife were seeking a new neighborhood with a golf course and amenities for an active family. The Cech’s chose a five bedroom, four-and-a-half bath home by Panitz Signature Homes in Royal Pines.

“Eagle Landing has everything we were looking for – it’s beautifully maintained with lots of great recreational activities at hand – especially golf – in a quiet location away from the busyness of Jacksonville yet still convenient to work and shopping” said Ryan Cech.  “It’s hard for a military family to move, so we want to establish a permanent home here. We’re looking forward to having lots of kids and raising them in Eagle Landing.”
