Eagle Landing at Oakleaf Plantation Opens Golf Course for Sneak Peak and Limited Play
Jacksonville, Fla. (Feb. 2006) – With turfgrass growing season still a few months away, Eagle Landing at Oakleaf Plantation has opened its semi-private, classic golf course to members and their guests for a limited play sneak preview. This early opening allows guests a perfect opportunity to get a feel for the course design while anticipating the arrival of new seasonal grass.
“Our members have really been looking forward to the opening of this course,” said Tim Spangler, Eagle Landing’s director of golf. “With anticipation running high, ideal golf weather right around the corner and the opening of our new pro shop and temporary clubhouse, we thought this would be the best time to introduce the course and we’re looking forward to welcoming our members and their guests.”
Eagle Landing is a par-72 course, designed by Clyde Johnston of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Johnston describes the course as a collection of classic holes, which incorporates designs by some of golf’s original architects. The open links style course winds through natural wetlands and conservation areas bordering the 24,000-acre Jennings State Forest. With six sets of tees, the course will play 2,789 yards from the junior tees and a challenging 7,037 yards from the back tees. Golf fees range from $50 to $60 with cart, based upon the days of the week.
Assistant golf professional Thomas Buzzoto, along with pro shop assistants Andrea Sarratt and Paige Pittman, are available onsite to help provide a positive golfing experience. Later this month, Eagle Landing will celebrate its groundbreaking for the permanent clubhouse, with construction targeted for completion in spring of 2007.
